Become a Peer Mentor Apply for a Career Mentor

Program Overview

The Davis College Mentorship program aims to provide students with additional opportunities to succeed upon their arrival and departure at Davis College. With this program, mentors can develop and demonstrate leadership skills and gain a personal sense of satisfaction knowing they’ve contributed to a student’s future success. Mentees can expand their knowledge and skills, gain valuable advice and feedback from experienced peers or professional, and build their overall networks.

Peer Mentorship

Application Opens Spring 2022 Semester

The peer mentorship program will begin in Davis College’s First Year Seminar courses. Mentors will spend the first half of the Fall semester inside the classroom with first-year students at Davis College. They will facilitate discussions and activities with students that build off the curriculum taught by the instructors. Topics like university resources, student success skills, financial literacy, career pathways, and more. Prior to the course starting, the peer mentors will be provided with the proper training to successfully facilitate a learning experience for the first-year students.

As a continuation of the peer mentorship program, students living in the SEEED Living Learning Community will have the opportunity to continue their mentorship experience through LLC specific events and curriculum guided conversations surrounding personal leadership, mindfulness, social aspects of the college experience, and goal-setting for their college career.

Career Mentorship

The career mentorship program will be either in person or remote depending on the location of the mentors. We aim to match our upperclassmen students with mentors who align best with their interests and/or areas of study. Prior to being matched, students will meet with Davis College staff to find out what their career goals may be and what they are hoping to gain from the mentor. Topics will include things like career readiness, tips for the transition into the "real world," and mapping out the next steps after graduation. Mentors and mentees will meet at 5 times throughout the semester,  in-person or remotely.

Requirements to Apply:
  • Must be a junior, senior, or graduate student in Davis College.
  • Comfortable with remote mentorship meetings via Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc.
  • The number of students accepted into the program is not guaranteed, and is dependent upon Mentor registration.
